Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Rajid bin Haji Zainie was born on 16th December 1974. He joined the Royal Brunei Armed Forces in 2000 and was then enlisted into the Officer Cadet School in 2001 at SAFTI Military Institute, Republic of Singapore. Upon commissioning as Second Lieutenant on 12th January 2003, he then served as a Platoon Commander at Third Battalion Royal Brunei Land Force.

Throughout his career, Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Rajid bin Haji Zainie held several appointments which include; the Infantry Platoon Commander at Third Battalion, Royal Brunei Land Force in 2001 to 2003; The OIC Mechanical Platoon at Land Engineering Support Service from 2003 to 2009; 2nd Commanding and Land Engineering Headquarters at the Support Service, Royal Brunei Land Forces from 2007 to 2009; Officer Commanding at the First Battalion Royal Brunei Land Force in 2009; Wing Commander Officer of Commander Royal Brunei Armed Force Office from 2009 to 2010, Training Officer at the Support Battalion Royal Brunei Land Force from 2013 to 2014, Staff Officer 2 to Commander Royal Brunei Armed Force Office from 2014 to 2015 and Comanding Officer, Defence Academy Headquarter from 2015 to 2023. 

Throughout his military service, Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Rajid has attended courses in both local and overseas. These include basic manpower officer, Singapore in 2003; LAD Commander, United Kingdom in 2003; General Project Concept Management in 2004; He attended both the Junior Staff Course in 2006 and Tactic Company in 2009 in Negara Brunei Darussalam. The last course attended was the Staff College, Negara Brunei Darussalam in 2013.

In recognition throughout his 24 years' service in the RBAF and with the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam, Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Rajid has been conferred The Most Honorable Order of Setia Negara Brunei 4th Class (PSB) and Golden Jubilee (P.J.E).

He is married to Norzainah binti Haji Zainal. He enjoys hiking and outdoor activities.
