Born on 25th May 1976, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Razanol Hardi bin Abd Razak enlisted into the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) in 1996 as an Aircraft Technician Trainee. In 2001, he was promoted to Officer Cadet and underwent his Initial Officer Training at the Royal Air Force (RAF) College Cranwell, the United Kingdom in 2002.
His initial appointed after his commissioning was as an Administrative Officer for Training Wing RBAirF (Presently known as No. 7 Wing) and subsequently throughout his military career served in various appointments at the command and staff level, including being Second-In-Command and Officer Commanding of the Parachute and Airborne Tactical Delivery Unit (PATDU, and presently known as No. 31 Sqn), Officer Commanding Administration Wing (Presently known as No. 6 Wing), Staff Officer Grade 2 A1 and Staff Officer Grade 2 OHS IU RBAF.
He has attended courses abroad and instate, including Basic Freefall Course, Basic Airborne Course (Republic of Singapore), Jumpmaster Special Airborne Ops Course (Islamic Republic of Pakistan) and Jungle Rescue Team (JRT) Course.
He has attained certificates for both the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Managing Safety as while as the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) International General Certificate (IGC) in Occupational Health and Safety. His staff training has included the RBAF Junior Staff Course (JSC) in 2009 and the RBAF Command and Staff College (CSC) in Joint International Security in 2017 at Defence Academy (DA) RBAF.
He had gathered experience in Bilateral/Joint Operations and Training with regional Air Forces through exercises such as Ex Elang Brunesia between Royal Brunei Airforce with the Republic of Indonesia Airforce and, Humanitarian and Disaster Relief (HADR) Exercises and Operations during ADMM-PLUS HADR & MM Ex 2013.
His operational experience also includes being part of the International Monitoring Team (IMT)-Mindanao (2006-2007). In recognition of his role during IMT, he received the Combat Commander's Badge (Kagitingan) and the Military Civic Action (MCA) Medal from the government of Republic of the Philippines, as well as the Meritorious Service Medal (Pingat Jasa Kebaktian – PJK) in 2007. During his tour at PATDU from 2008 until 2015, he gathered numerous search and rescue operations experience, one of which was leading the RBAF Search and Rescue (Maritime) Team in support of the BRIDEX Airshow 2013.
His other achievements include achieving Category 10 Parachute Jumper qualification (qualified in advanced maneuvers and lands within 1 meter of target center on three consecutive descends), being the Team Leader for the Bruneian Parachute Display Team during the Hot Air Balloon Festival, Republic of the Philippines in 2012 and the establishment of RBAirF Static Airborne Jump Training in 2013.
Lieutenant Colonel (U) Razanol Hardi is married to Norhida binti Hj Mat Din and is blessed with one daughter. He is a motorcycle enthusiast, enjoys playing golf, open water swimming, cycling and long-distance running.
