COMMANDING OFFICER
THIRD BATTALION
ROYAL BRUNEI LAND FORCE
Lieutenant Colonel Haji Mohammad Shanonnizam bin Sulaiman assumed the command of Commanding Officer Third Battalion Royal Brunei Land Force (3Bn RBLF) on 30 January 2015. He was born on 23 July 1972. He enlisted into the Royal Brunei Armed Forces on 12 July 1996 upon completed his tertiary education at the Universiti of Brunei Darussalam in Public Policy and Administration.
Lieutenant Colonel Haji Mohammad Shanonnizam completed his officer cadet training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, United Kingdom and was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Royal Brunei Land Force on 02 April 1998. Following his stint as an Infantry Platoon Commander in 3Bn RBLF, he attended the Regimental Signal Officer Course at Warminster School of Infantry, United Kingdom in 2000. From then on he has held various appointments as a signal and communicatios officer in particular as the Regimental Signal Officer of 2Bn RBLF, Staff Officer Grade 3 Communications at RBLF Headquarters, Staff Officer Grade 2 at the Directorate of Operations and as a Staff Officer Grade 2 C4I at the Directorate of Force Capability Development. Lieutenant Colonel Haji Mohammad Shanonnizam has also acted as the Aide-De-Camp to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince from 2004 to 2006.
He has also held various command appointments notably as the Officer Commanding of 'B' Company, 1Bn RBLF in 2003 and as the Commanding Officer at the Officer Cadet School, Royal Brunei Armed Forces from 2011 to 2012. Attended the Command and Staff Course at the Australian Defence Force Command and Staff College in 2009, he has attained a Diploma in Defence Studies. Other appointments held were as Staff Officer Grade 1 Communication Information System at the Joint Force Headquarters from 2012 to 2014 and as a Staff Officer Grade 1 Force Capability Development (Land) from 2014 to early 2015.
Lieutenant Colonel Haji Mohammad Shanonnizam is a keen sportsman and is an avid runner and enjoys golf. He is married to Pg Hjh Rozedah binti Pg Hj Sulaiman and blessed with a son.
