PENANJONG GARRISON, Friday, 22nd February 2019. The Closing Ceremony for Basic Malay Course Session 2018 and Lance Corporal Leadership Course Series 3/2018 was held in Halbi Lecture Room, Evolution Center, Training Institute RBAF. Present as Guest of Honour at the event was Yang Mulia Major Rudie Asmawi bin Haji Abidin, Chief Instructor TI RBAF. Basic Malay Course was conducted for 3 weeks, starting from 04th February 2019 to 22nd February 2019. This course is dedicated to members of the British loan service and the Gurkha troops who are serving in the country. A total of 10 personnel attended the course consisting of military personnel from the Ministry of Defence, the Royal Brunei Navy, and civilian who served in the Seria Garrison.
The Best Overall Student Award for the Basic Malay Course Session 2018 was held by Sergeant Tarjan Pun. Through this course, the participants will be able to recognize the culture and customs of the people of Brunei. In addition, the course participants were also taught to be able to communicate using the basic structure of Malay grammar, either verbally or in written form. Various activities have been conducted in order to achieve the objectives of the courses such as writing, speaking, listening, testing and study visits.
Whereas, Lance Corporal Leadership Course Series 3/2018 was held for 2 weeks, starting on 11th February to 22nd February 2019. A total of 46 course participants attended this course which consists of 33 personnel from the Royal Brunei Land Forces, 3 personnel from Ministry of Defence and 10 personnel from the Training Institute RBAF.
Through this course, the course participants were be able to form and develop the ability to build their identity as a leader with quality and increase self-confidence to lead their subordinates.
The ceremony commenced with a speech from representatives of participants of the Basic Malay Course Session 2018 and Lance Corporal Leadership Course Series 3/2018 followed by the presentation of certificates and official closing of courses enhanced by Guest of Honour.
